Online Psychotherapy
I mainly offer online therapy. I have found it a very successful way of working. Research has shown that online therapy can be as effective as in -person therapy .
We know now that what makes therapy effective is not so much the approach and technique, but more, the strength and quality of relationship with the therapist. The rapport with the therapist is not predicated on physical proximity but on the feeling and sense of being truly understood. It is the affective and meaningful connectivity established with the therapist that matters most.
It is the sense that someone ‘gets it and gets me‘, It is the capacity to establish a bond of genuine trust in the therapist and with the work, which builds and is secured over time. I offer this to my patients when our fit is right and online therapy gives you the opportunity to try out the experience with greater ease. There is no travel and less time consumption. It is simply more convenient to fit into a daily schedule. I always provide two to three trial sessions before we decide to begin regular therapy together.
Working online, gives the opportunity to work with me, with my areas of experience and expertise whether you are wanting therapy or supervision. Access is not a problem, it is always possible whether in different regions, areas of the country or even other parts of the world. It is also helpful for people who have a disability or type of illness that makes traveling difficult or impossible.
We now live in a digital age, and we are more familiar with other means of communication and ways of organising our life’s. In a busy life online therapy can be a viable and preferred option.
